We have recently been advised by the Scout Association that the Membership Fee has risen once again. The Membership Fee covers insurance for your child and additional administration costs at HQ. In the past we have been able to cover any increases from Scout HQ and the Scout County fee within the subscriptions we charge. However, for 2025,  the fees have risen to an amount that our current subscriptions will now not cover.

I have included the breakdown below:

Headquarters Membership Fee: £43.00

County Administration: £11.00

Total Fee £54.00

Less District Subsidy: £5.00

Total Fee: £49.00

We have added £1.00 to contribute towards Group funds

We have been fortunate that our Scout District are contributing £5.00 to assist local Groups. This still is not enough of a reduction to ensure our subscriptions can cover the membership fee. The Group Trustee Board have therefore decided that subscriptions for EACH child for the Spring Term ONLY (January-Easter) will be set at £50.00. This money will need to go to the Scouting Association by the end of January 2025.

We also apologise for the timing of this news – right before Christmas. Unfortunately, we were left with no other option. The Trustee Board have worked hard to minimise any increases and we are very hopeful that the subscriptions for the Summer & Autumn Terms will stay at the current rate.

Please ensure that subs are paid by 31 January 2025, but if paying subs causes any issues, please contact me in confidence. NO ONE needs to miss out on scouting because of affordability.
